Future Shock

"When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened." -- John M. Richardson, Jr.

"My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there." -- Charles F. Kettering

For me, approaching (nonofyourbusiness) years of age, and knowing what I know about the trajectory of technology, I have this growing desire to understand it more deeply, and possibly try to help shape it in some way.  Be it through culture/leadership, or in a technological discipline.  I absorb information and opinions about the possible future; some utopian and some apocalyptic.  I can't whole heartedly believe in either extreme, and I assume we'll end up somewhere in the middle.  To sway the needle toward the utopian side of neutral, "the people", or at least some of them, need to do something.

What can I do? What would suit me?  Where can I be effective?  I don't know, but I don't want to hide in my basement just watching.

This section of the blog will be dedicated to the observation, analysis, discussion, rants and stories about the most important elements of the future: Technology, Culture, and our humanity.
