Are We Willing to Leave It Behind?

As humanity speeds toward a "post-human" future, what will we be giving up?  Can we draw the line?

Whether we replace ourselves with robots/AI, virtual humans, or genetically engineered beings, do we break completely with our art, culture, soul?  Just as we no longer practice Shamanism or hunting rituals, will art, music and story telling disappear, in pursuit of higher efficiency, more data, and faster processing?

Will our drive for immortality push us to cultural extinction and make us nothing more than immortal machines, bio-machines or otherwise?  Or will we be wise enough to only go so far, or to find the way that retains our human nature, yet achieves the immortality we seek and the mastery of the universe we desire?

Do androids dream of electric sheep, and will my consciousness in a virtual brain still be moved by music?
